What is Chiropractic?
A NATURAL approach to healthcareChiropractic as a profession has been around for 125 years. Chiropractors are trained to find areas of the spine and extremities which are not functioning and moving at their full potential. Often these areas of the spine will have corresponding muscle tightness and tenderness. Chiropractors use a range of techniques to enhance movement of these spinal joints which results in the brain and the body having an increased connection and improved function. Although the majority of people consult a chiropractor due to pain or dysfunction, lots of people also choose Chiropractic care to keep them well.

Helping YOUR body adapt to YOUR environmentSeveral studies have shown that Chiropractic care changes the way that the brain sends messages to the muscles, increasing the connection between the brain and the body. This enhanced connection can help your brain to know what is going on in the body and therefore control your body better. Our brain and spinal cord (the nervous system) is continuously using millions of processes to help you adapt to your physical, chemical and emotional environment to keep you alive and thriving- these processes happen without you even having to think about it. A healthy nervous system means that these processes can happen at the right time and right way which leads to optimal functioning of our bodies.

Chiropractic for babies & children
In the first year of development, a baby goes through many milestones such as holding his or her head up, rolling over, crawling, and walking. These present many opportunities that greatly benefit from a properly functioning nervous system and is important to ensure that the connections between the brain and body develop and function well. Healthy nervous system function can support the achievement of developmental milestones. Our chiropractors have completed extra study in the examination and chiropractic care of babies and children and is committed to the careful assessment and gentle correction of your child’s spine and neuro-musculo-skeletal system to support their healthy development. After examining your child's history, our chiropractors will advise if chiropractic care could be an effective option. Sometimes it is necessary to refer to another health professional such as a GP, functional dentist, occupational therapist, lactation consultant or speech therapist to help manage or co-manage to achieve the best outcome for your child. |
Chiropractic in Pregnancy
Most women come into the practice to have optimum pregnancies, to make their pregnancies more comfortable, to achieve balance in their spines and pelvis, and to improve their labour experience/outcome. As your baby grows, there are physical stresses placed on your body. As a result, muscles tighten (to allow balance and support) and often cause the vertebrae to become restricted, producing some typical pregnancy symptoms. Most of these common complaints experienced by pregnant women respond remarkably well to chiropractic care. These include: musculoskeletal issues such as low back pain, hip pain, pain at the pubic bone, mid back pain, rib pain, and sciatic nerve pain. Headaches, swelling , breathing difficulties (associated with rib pain) and general discomfort can also be reduced with chiropractic care. Dr Krissy & Dr Paige are experienced in the gentle care of women during all stages of pregnancy and use gentle blocking procedures, and other SOT techniques to assist with healthy function throughout pregnancy and to prepare the body for labour and birth. |
